sunday brunch

french toasts & pancakes, which one do you like?


  • 4 slices good quality white bread (thick cut)
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbs cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest
  • 1/8 tsp grated nutmeg
  • 1/2 tbs grand marnier
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 2-3 tbs unsalted butter
  • icing sugar for dusting
  • maple syrup

1.whisk eggs until foamy, add milk, vanilla extract, grand marnier, sugar, orange zest, nutmeg and salt.

2. dip bread into egg mixture and turn to coat both sides of bread letting the egg mixture soak in.

3. in a medium heat griddle or skillet, melt 1 tbs of butter, add bread and cook for 2-3 minutes. turn it over for another 2-3 minutes until the bread is golden brown.

keep it warm in a 200F oven while doing the rest.

dust with icing sugar & serve with maple syrup. enjoy!

    to be honest, the french toast is much tasty than the pancake.
    i deffinetely need to search for another nice pancake recipe.
